Members Site Change Process

Overview

Each year, the Rakaia Gorge Society runs a Site Change Process that allows current siteholders to request a move to a different site within the campground. This gives members the opportunity to shift to a site that better suits their needs.

To make this information easier for all members to access—including those who find the members‑only login challenging, the map below shows the latest site change queues. How to Read the Site Change Request Grid

The map displays 61 grids. Each grid shows the site number, the maximum site size (in metres), the size group (pink, blue, or green), and—if letters appear below—the current queue for that site.

Members are assigned a unique letter when they register for a site change and this letter appears on the grid when the secretary has processed that they want to join the waiting list for that site.
The grid helps you see how busy a queue is on any site before deciding whether to request to join it.

Understanding Site Size Groups

Sites are grouped into three size categories based on the length of your accommodation (including tow bars), these groups ensures members only request sites suitable for their setup.

Small sites (Pink): 7.0m or under
Mid‑range sites (Blue): 7.1–8.5m
Large sites (Green): Over 8.5m

The colour‑coded map below shows where each group is located throughout the campground, helping you quickly identify which sites are suitable for your accommodation.

Request a site change ( For RGS Members only)

Identify which size group your accommodation fits within.
Use the colour‑coded map below to decide which site suits your needs.
Check the Site Change Request Grid to verify that your accommodation fits within the maximum size for that site.
Check that you are happy with the queue of members already waiting for that site. (Hint: if the queue is long, see whether a similar nearby site will suffice.)
Send your chosen site(s), your current site number and accommodation size to the Secretary. You may choose or change up to three sites. If your van is exactly 7m or 8.5m and you’d like to request a site in the next size group up, please email the Secretary so the committee can review your request.

FAQ from members

Why are sites grouped into three size categories?

A rule change introduced at the 2024 AGM means sites must match the size of your accommodation. To support this, all sites are grouped into Small, Mid‑range, and Large categories.

Do I have to choose three sites?

No. You may choose one, two, or three sites within your size group.

How do I know which size group I belong to?

Your accommodation length—including the tow bar—determines your group:

Small: 7.0m or under
Mid‑range: 7.1–8.5m
Large: Over 8.5m

Can I change my selections later?

Yes. You can change or withdraw your selections at any time, this does not affect your position in any other queues.
